Shockwave Physics Explained
This course introduced shockwaves that are generated by explosives and how they travel through different materials
Shockwave Physics Explained covers the development and travel of shockwaves which are generated by explosives. In nearly 6 hours of university level lecture, Dr. Anthony Konya takes students through the entire life of an explosive generated shockwave from a simplistic standpoint. This course is the perfect entry point for those with no background in shockwaves looking to gain better understand for how these forces work in the real world.
This course discusses shockwave generation, shockwave travel through materials, shockwave collisions, rarefaction waves, and rarefaction wave collision.
This course is Section 3 of the Explosive Engineering 1 program.
Your Instructor
Dr. Anthony Konya is an explosive engineer with worldwide experience in drilling and blasting for surface, underground, and underwater blasting projects. Anthony has extensive experience in blast design, ground vibration, air overpressure, unintentional detonation of explosives, effects of explosives on structures and has applied these skills in the mining, construction, and defense industries.
Anthony holds a PhD in Explosive Engineering from Missouri S&T, as well as numerous other advanced degrees in engineering. He has over 50 publications in explosive engineering and developed modern presplit blasting theory. Anthony is the Vice President of Precision Blasting Services, a drill and blast consulting firm, the Founder and CEO of Academy Blasting, and an instructor at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
